For Our Overseas Donors and Partners

The UK-based Rotary Club of Newcastle-under-Lyne hosted Epworth Foundation Director Ingrid Roberts whilst on a visit to Staffordshire in July 2018. Ingrid addressed the club on the goal of the Foundation to make it possible for more ‘young women of worth’ in South Africa to receive a life-changing education at Epworth when funds are pledged towards bursaries. A donation of 150 GBP was warmly received from the club, in addition to wonderful friendships being made. More recently in July 2020, Ingrid was invited back as guest speaker again by this same club ~ this time COVID-style ~ via Zoom! Past girl Noluthando Nzimande, an outstanding past girl ambassador for the Epworth Foundation, joined Ingrid to share online her own life experiences, having received the benefit of such a world-class education at Epworth herself. Another 165 GBP was generously donated, in part by the club itself and the rest as individual donations from these kind rotarians. We are abundantly grateful to this club for touching the future of education in Africa in such a way.

As our Foundation continues to grow, and as part of our mission now to fundraise more concertedly abroad, The Epworth Foundation is delighted to have been approved as a Not-for-Profit organisation to be featured on the official crowd-funding Global Giving platform.

The July 2020 launch was dedicated to the late Epworth Foundation stalwart campaigner Ms. Charmaine Schwenn, who passed away tragically this June and whose devotion to good and sound educational opportunities for young girls in KwaZulu-Natal will forever be her legacy living on through the Epworth Foundation.
